Elevated Landscapes

Cityroofs developed the ‘elevated landscapes’ concept to provide complete, integrated solutions, essential for optimising rooftops and other unused assets while meeting increasingly complex policy, sustainability and technical requirements, such as sustainable drainage (SUDS).

Elevated landscapes simply take all the elements of sustainable landscape design and apply them to building roofs, terraces, podium decks, promenades, balconies and facades. They include planting such as green roofs and walls to encourage biodiversity, incorporate SUDS, enable conversion of CO2 to oxygen, absorb airborne pollutants, remove urban ‘heat island’ effects and provide effective thermal insulation and mass to reduce carbon emissions.

But accessibility and recreational use are also important factors and areas of firm, level, well-drained and non-slip surfaces are also needed. Cityroofs provide raised paving systems designed specifically for pedestrian use and play areas on rooftops – and even car parking and vehicle access – all with SUDS capabilities. Today, designers have an impressive choice of attractive and safe rooftop paving, as well as an extensive range of ‘elevated street furniture’, lighting, photovoltaic collectors, fencing and fall protection systems.

The key to successful elevated landscapes is the expertise of a single, expert organisation with the experience to work closely with designers and the resources to deliver. Cityroofs is unique in meeting all these needs.
